A common question photography clients often ask is “will you tell us what to do, where to stand, how to pose for our family photography session?” The answer is YES, I will provide some guidance and direction around posing and activities to do with your children during your shoot. In order to capture authentic moments and memories I really encourage clients to interact and have fun. I always ensure we capture a variety of different poses in your gallery, and the more that families can go with the flow, relax and be themselves, the more natural and varied the images will be. Here are five of my favourite family photography poses / images I like to focus on at outdoor family sessions.
Top Five Family Photography Poses – Oakville Family Photography.
#1 Walking together hand in hand in a beautiful landscape. It’s such a great storytelling image that moms really love.
#2 Playing with the kids, and lifting them up high! Fun and playful interactions get the kids to smile and allow them to have fun at their shoot and not get bored too quickly.
#3 Perfectly posed and everyone looking at the camera. Not always the easiest image to get with little ones, and it takes some patience. I work hard to get this type of shot because they are great for framing, sharing as gifts with family, and greeting cards.
#4 Close up! Often I’ll have parents tell their kids a story, sing to them, or cuddle and then I move in to capture those natural moments.
#5 Unposed or unscripted moments in between that tell your family’s story at that moment in time. They are only this little for such a short time. Families often tell me they treasure looking back at these types of moments when their children have grown.
